Fall along the Appalachian Mountains

Eastern U.S.

I had the opportunity to spend two short-term stays on the East Coast. I first spent one year studying abroad in Montréal in 2013-2014, then later I spent six months in Maryland at the Smithsonian Environmental Research Center in 2017.

Initially, I was hesitant about living on the East Coast. I knew to expect the harsh winters, but I wasn't ready to be far apart from my beloved Western National Parks and the vast public lands to explore. However, I enjoyed my stays much more than expected! By driving across the country, I had the luxury to take my own van and camping equipment, which enabled me to drive up and down the coast constantly.
